Regional Support
Founded in 1984, North Carolinians for Home Education (NCHE) is a private, volunteer organization active at the state level, serving homeschoolers in North Carolina and beyond.
In order to better serve, NCHE divides the state into twelve regions. Each region has an assigned number and Regional Director.

What is Homeschooling?
History
Law & Government Relations
Homeschooling is the view that education is best when teaching and learning are integrated into the relationships and activities of the family.
The oldest form of education, homeschooling was legally recognized in NC in 1988.
Article 39 of chapter 115C of the General Statutes defines a Homeschool in NC. The Division of Non-Public Instruction (DNPE) administers the NC law governing homeschooling practice.

NCHE regularly hosts several major events.
Graduation
The Graduation of your homeschooled son or daughter is a momentous occasion and worthy of celebration. NCHE invites you to commemorate the occasion with your family and with your community. The NCHE graduation is the final event of the Annual Conference, the Saturday before Memorial Day.
Capital Fest
Our biannual spring event in Raleigh occurs during the legislative long session and is usually in March. Homeschool families meet legislators and visit state museums.

he NCHE Annual Conference and Book Fair serves as a celebration of the multi-faceted face of home education in North Carolina. It has become the highlight of the year for many NC homeschoolers as well as our neighbors.
Since the first NCHE conference in 1984, that served about fifty families, we’ve grown to serve thousands. This multi-day event occurring in Winston-Salem in late May features national and regional speakers, workshops for the curious as well as the experienced and a vendor hall of over 45,000 square feet.
