Founded in 1984, North Carolinians for Home Education (NCHE) is a private, volunteer organization active at the state level, serving homeschoolers in North Carolina and beyond.
In order to better serve, NCHE divides the state into nine regions. Each region has an assigned number and Regional Director.
Homeschooling is the view that education is best when teaching and learning are integrated into the relationships and activities of the family.
The oldest form of education, homeschooling was legally recognized in NC in 1988.
Article 39 of chapter 115C of the General Statutes defines a Homeschool in NC. The Division of Non-Public Instruction (DNPE) administers the NC law governing homeschooling practice.

We are a Christian homeschool enrichment program that gathers once a week to partner with parents as they educate their children. Providence began in the fall of 1994 with approximately thirty children from the homeschool support group, Triangle Christian Home Educators.
This weekly enrichment program for elementary-aged children was originally called “Friday School.” Due to its success,“Friday School” opened to home-school families in the Triangle area regardless of their support group affiliation in the fall of 1995. At this time, the name of the program changed to “The Providence School,” and tutorials were added for students in grades 7-12. In January of 1997, The Providence School became an official ministry of King’s Park International Church. In the fall of 2000, the program became known simply as “Providence.” Shortly thereafter we changed our name again to "Providence Tutorials" which better describes our function and purpose.
Our 22nd academic year begins August 26th but with rolling enrollment for some of our tutorials we may still have a seat just right for you. We have added math courses up to precalculus, a digital study skills course, a series of drama workshops, and a health series that offers a CPR certification. All of our students the opportunity to learn how to take a hybrid online class with Google Classroom. Check out our website to see if we are what you have been missing.
