It is a goal of NCHE to provide homeschool athletes with the opportunity to participate on a high school level team similar to what they could experience if in a private or public school. To that end, we established North Carolinians for Home Education Athletic Commission<\/a><\/strong> (NCHEAC). NCHEAC operates under NCHE to provide leagues and tournaments in the traditional high school sports.<\/p>\n

Our homeschool teams consist of only homeschooled athletes and are primarily coached by homeschool parents, many of whom have high school and\/or college experience. We follow the rules of the National Federation of State High Schools Association (www.nfhs.org<\/a>) and have a level of competitiveness found on many school teams while preserving a high level sportsmanship . We have a level of competition which exceeds recreational sports but does not place undue travel demands on families involved with \u201ctravel ball\u201d teams.<\/p>\n

To be eligible to participate in an NCHEAC team or sport, students must be in compliance with North Carolina homeschooling law which defines a homeschool as \u201ca nonpublic school consisting of the children of not more than two families or households, where the parents or legal guardians or members of either household determine the scope and sequence of academic instruction, provide academic instruction and determine additional sources of academic instruction\u201d (quoted from the NC DNPE website).<\/p>\n

Athletic Commissioner Dale Brown<\/strong><\/p>\n

\"\"Dale Brown has served with the NCHE Athletic Commission since 2007. He and his wife Angela live in Northern Orange County and have been homeschooling since 1993. Dale is the state commissioner for the NCHE Athletic Commission and administrates the North Carolina Homeschool Leagues and post season tournaments in baseball, boys\/girls basketball, boys\/girls soccer, volleyball, golf, cross country and swimming.   Ein Ziel von NCHE ist es, Heimsch\u00fclern die M\u00f6glichkeit zu geben, in einem Highschool-Team auf \u00e4hnlichem Niveau wie an einer privaten oder \u00f6ffentlichen Schule mitzuspielen. Zu diesem Zweck haben wir die North Carolinians for Home Education Athletic Commission (NCHEAC) gegr\u00fcndet. Die NCHEAC ist Teil von NCHE und organisiert Ligen und Turniere in den traditionellen Highschool-Sportarten. Besonderheiten: Unsere Heimsch\u00fcler-Teams bestehen ausschlie\u00dflich aus Heimsch\u00fclern und werden haupts\u00e4chlich von Eltern trainiert, die ihre Kinder zu Hause unterrichten. Viele von ihnen haben Erfahrung im Highschool- und\/oder College-Sport. Wir richten uns nach den Regeln der National Federation of State High Schools Associations (www.nfhs.org) und bieten ein \u00e4hnliches Wettkampfniveau wie viele Schulmannschaften, ohne dabei die Fairplay-Werte zu beeintr\u00e4chtigen. Unser Wettbewerbsniveau ist h\u00f6her als im Freizeitsport, stellt aber keine \u00fcberm\u00e4\u00dfige Reisebelastung f\u00fcr Familien dar, die in \u201cReisemannschaften\u201d aktiv sind. Um an einem Team oder einer Sportart der NCHEAC teilnehmen zu k\u00f6nnen, m\u00fcssen Sch\u00fclerinnen und Sch\u00fcler die Bestimmungen des Heimschulgesetzes von North Carolina einhalten. Dieses definiert Heimunterricht als \u201ceine nicht-\u00f6ffentliche Schule, die aus den Kindern von maximal zwei Familien oder Haushalten besteht, wobei die Eltern, Erziehungsberechtigten oder Mitglieder eines der beiden Haushalte den Umfang und die Reihenfolge des Unterrichts festlegen, den Unterricht erteilen und zus\u00e4tzliche Unterrichtsquellen bestimmen\u201d (Zitat von der Website des NC DNPE).
