Teens and Alumni Activities<\/h2>\n

NCHE plans social activities to encourage the friendships of our teens and alumni. All of these activities will have adult supervision.<\/p>\n

Teens & Alumni Cotillion-Style Dance: Thursday, <\/strong>7:30-9:30 PM (Gallery Ballroom)<\/strong><\/h4>\n

Historically, dance has been an important social skill. Even our country\u2019s military academies make dance lessons mandatory for young cadets. Dance education develops grace, poise, posture and coordination and has been proven to be an inherent part of our culture. In keeping with these traditions, NCHE will host a dance on Thursday evening from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. There will be instruction on dances such as swing, box step and line dancing. This dance, with the emphasis on instruction, will be taught and lead by Dennis Ritchie, a retired homeschool dad who has taught cotillion for more than thirty years. Our teacher\u2019s teaching styles will put the students at ease regardless of their ability, and teens are encouraged to dance with many partners. The dress for these dances is modest casual (what you wear to the conference).<\/p>\n

This is an opportunity for students to meet and talk with college and trades representatives. This will be open 10:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m. on Friday and is located in Piedmont 1, next to the vendor hall. In April you can find the list of colleges and trades, look in the menu under College & Trades Fair.<\/p>\n

Special Workshops for Teens

It is a priority of the NCHE conference to offer quality workshops for our homeschooled teens. We are excited to share our teen focused speakers with your family. Parents are welcome, of course, but these talks are suitable for teens to attend on their own. Aktivit\u00e4ten f\u00fcr Jugendliche und Alumni: NCHE plant gesellige Aktivit\u00e4ten, um die Freundschaften unserer Jugendlichen und Alumni zu f\u00f6rdern. Alle Aktivit\u00e4ten finden unter Aufsicht von Erwachsenen statt. Tanzabend f\u00fcr Jugendliche und Alumni: Donnerstag, 19:30\u201321:30 Uhr (Gallery Ballroom). Tanzen ist seit jeher eine wichtige soziale Kompetenz. Selbst an den Milit\u00e4rakademien unseres Landes ist Tanzunterricht f\u00fcr junge Kadetten Pflicht. Tanzen f\u00f6rdert Anmut, Haltung und Koordination und ist nachweislich ein fester Bestandteil unserer Kultur. In Anlehnung an diese Traditionen veranstaltet NCHE am Donnerstagabend von 19:30 bis 21:30 Uhr einen Tanzabend. Es werden T\u00e4nze wie Swing, Box Step und Line Dance unterrichtet. Der Tanzabend, bei dem der Schwerpunkt auf dem Unterricht liegt, wird von Dennis Ritchie geleitet, einem pensionierten Vater, der seine Kinder zu Hause unterrichtet und seit \u00fcber drei\u00dfig Jahren Tanzkurse gibt. Dank seines lockeren Unterrichtsstils f\u00fchlen sich die Sch\u00fclerinnen und Sch\u00fcler unabh\u00e4ngig von ihrem K\u00f6nnen wohl, und die Jugendlichen werden ermutigt, mit verschiedenen Tanzpartnern zu tanzen. Die Kleiderordnung f\u00fcr diese Tanzveranstaltungen ist leger-elegant (\u00e4hnlich wie bei der Konferenz). Spieleabend f\u00fcr Jugendliche und Alumni: Freitag, 19:30\u201321:30 Uhr (Gallery Ballroom). Am Freitagabend findet von 19:30 bis 21:30 Uhr ein Spieleabend statt. NCHE stellt Karten-, Brett- und Gruppenspiele zur Verf\u00fcgung. Hochschul- und Berufsmesse: Freitag, 10:00\u201315:00 Uhr (Piedmont 1). Hier haben Sch\u00fcler die M\u00f6glichkeit, Hochschul- und Berufsvertreter kennenzulernen und sich mit ihnen auszutauschen. Die Messe ist am Freitag von 10:00 bis 15:00 Uhr in Piedmont 1, neben der Ausstellerhalle, ge\u00f6ffnet. Die Liste der teilnehmenden Hochschulen und Berufsaus\u00fcbungsbetriebe finden Sie im April im Men\u00fc unter \u201eHochschul- und Berufsmesse\u201c. Spezielle Workshops f\u00fcr Jugendliche: Die NCHE-Konferenz legt gro\u00dfen Wert darauf, qualitativ hochwertige Workshops f\u00fcr Jugendliche im Heimunterricht anzubieten. Wir freuen uns, Ihnen unsere Referenten f\u00fcr Jugendliche vorstellen zu d\u00fcrfen. Eltern sind selbstverst\u00e4ndlich herzlich willkommen, aber die Vortr\u00e4ge eignen sich auch f\u00fcr Jugendliche, die alleine teilnehmen m\u00f6chten.
