NC Governor’s, House and Senate Page Programs<\/h2>\n

NC Governor’s Page Program<\/strong><\/h3>\n

NCHE helps to facilitate the opportunity for teens of North Carolina homeschooling families to participate in the Governor’s Page Program by setting aside a week each year as homeschool week and providing help for those who wish to go on their own at other times.<\/p>\n

The Governor’s Page Program provides an opportunity for students (classified as freshmen, sophomores, juniors, seniors or recent graduates; juniors and seniors given priority) to find out first hand about the function\/operation of state government. The Governor’s Office page program focuses on professional development, service opportunities and educational experiences in civics and history.\u00a0 When Governor’s Page Week activities include visits and interaction with each of the three branches of government (visiting the State Supreme Court and justice(s); visiting the Legislature and meeting with House and\/or Senate members; meeting with representatives of the administrative Cabinet).\u00a0 For the NCHE group, an effort will be made to include a visit with the Office of Non-Public Education (the “homeschool office”).<\/p>\n

The 2025 Governor’s Page Week<\/h4>\n

The Governor’s Page program helps high school students grow in the areas of civics, history, service and professional development.<\/p>\n

October 27-30, 2025 will be the next available homeschool Governor’s Page Week. <\/strong>Participation is limited to 12 students<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

All pages serve for one 4-day week:\u00a0 Monday, 1-4 pm; Tuesday\/Wednesday\/Thursday, 9 a.m.-4 p.m.<\/p>\n

There is a dress code. Pages are expected to dress in conservative, non-distracting attire and comfortable shoes (as there is a good bit of walking.)<\/p>\n

A $200 stipend is provided by the Governor’s office to help defray travel expenses for the week.<\/p>\n

The North Carolina Senate and House of Representatives Page Programs provide the opportunity for students to find out firsthand how laws are made by helping in an individual senator’s or representative’s office. These pages must be in tenth, eleventh or twelfth grades, must be in good academic standing in their schools and sponsored by a Representative or Senator.\u00a0 Students’ work Monday 1 p.m. through Friday, 5 p.m. of their assigned week.\u00a0 Students may receive a $150 stipend to help cover their costs for the week. Contact your state representative or senator to begin the application process.\u00a0 The House and Senate Page Programs operate in the spring of each year.\u00a0 The schedule and application process typically opens in late fall.\u00a0 Please contact your state senator’s or representative’s office for additional information<\/p>\n

NCHE helps to facilitate the opportunity for teens of NCHE member families to participate in the Governor's and the North Carolina Senate's and House of Representatives' Page Programs by setting aside a week each year as homeschool week and providing help for those who wish to go on their own at other times.<\/p>

The North Carolina Senate and House of Representatives Page Programs provide the opportunity for students to find out firsthand how laws are made by helping in an individual senator's or representative's office. These pages must be between the ages of 15 (or in the ninth grade) and 18, must be in good academic standing in their schools and sponsored by a Representative or Senator.<\/p>

The\u00a02018 Senate and House Page weeks will be assigned over the winter<\/strong>.<\/p>

The Governor's Page Program provides an opportunity for students (age 16-18--or soon to be 16) to find out first hand about the function\/operation of state government. The Governor's Office page program focuses on educational and professional development.\u00a0 Activities include visits and interaction with each of the three branches of government (visiting the State Supreme Court and justice(s); visiting the Legislature and meeting with House and\/or Senate members; meeting with Cabinet Secretaries).\u00a0 Additionally, students may do some clerical work in the Governor's office.\u00a0 For the NCHE group, an effort will be made to include a visit with the Office of Non-Public Education (the \"homeschool office\").<\/p>

The 2017 NCHE Governor's Page week is September 18-21<\/strong>.\u00a0 Do NOT register at their online site.\u00a0 Instead, directly contact Page Program Coordinator Tyler Robinson at\u00a0govpage@nc.gov<\/a>\u00a0or call him at 919-814-2080. Participation is limited to 8 or 9 students.<\/p>

All pages serve for one week and are paid. This money goes to cover the cost of room and board while serving. There are homes prepared to host the pages. They generally provide the room, board, and transportation while in Raleigh.<\/p>

There is a dress code. Young men are required to wear coats and ties, no jeans. Young ladies are required to wear a skirt and blouse, a dress or dress slacks and a blazer, no mini skirts.<\/p>
