As more families are turning to homeschooling as an excellent school choice,\u00a0<\/span>North Carolinians for Home Education wants to be sure that every family is equipped and connected. We understand that homeschooling is more than just academics but also involves every part of the identity of the family.<\/span><\/div>\n

Therefore, we are committed to working towards recognizing and serving all families with respect to their unique ethnic and cultural differences. Our goal is to create and serve a community filled with a beautiful array of diverse families who are homeschooling in their own wonderfully, unique way. We believe this will allow others to be inspired and feel confident that the world of homeschooling is for their families too! We want families of all ethnicities to know that NCHE is here to serve them too!<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Hello! I am Youlanda Lewis a servant of Jesus Christ excited about the opportunity to serve. My husband, Jamison, and I have been married for 20 years and have three children; our eldest graduated in 2024. We started homeschooling in 2019. Since then, I have been an assistant, teacher, and board member in our local co-op. Currently, I direct a co-op in Gaston County. Our goal is to foster a biblical culture among homeschooling families from diverse backgrounds.<\/p>\n

I am passionate about encouraging families new to home education to embrace it confidently, focusing on building strong family dynamics. I look forward to contributing to NCHE’s mission.<\/div>\n

I am an Army veteran\u2019s spouse and the mother of a seven-year-old boy named Carlosc\u00e9sar. I am a homeschool mom. We love God, nature, music, gardening, cooking, and baking. I have a passion for learning and teaching foreign languages. I love traveling, dancing, and trying different foods from all over the world.<\/span><\/p>\n

More families are homeschooling than ever before. As the homeschooling community grows, it is also becoming more diverse. Families are coming from different ethnic, racial, and linguistic backgrounds. They have unique experiences and goals for home education. In order for NCHE to help\u00a0all<\/em>\u00a0families homeschool with confidence and joy, we want to welcome all kinds of families into our community and work to understand and address the unique needs they may be facing.<\/p>\n

The purpose of this webinar is to put out the welcome mat and understand these unique needs. Matthew McDill, NCHE\u2019s executive director, talks with Te\u2019Essence Mack and Luz Vel\u00e1zquez, two homeschool moms from different ethnic backgrounds.<\/p>\n
