Attending the Nutcracker Ballet with NCHE is an annual tradition for many families! Thrill to the excitement, beauty and glorious music of this timeless fairy tale. On Christmas Eve, the child Clara receives a beautifully carved Nutcracker as a gift from her godfather. During the night she returns to the parlor to check on her treasure and falls asleep with the nutcracker in her arms. As the clock strikes midnight, she dreams that the Nutcracker transforms into a prince and fights an invading army of mice! The Mouse King is defeated when Clara throws a slipper, hitting him on the head. Clara and the handsome prince then travel to the Land of Sweets ruled by the Sugar Plum Fairy. Clara awakens from her dream, once again in the parlor by her own Christmas tree, holding her nutcracker.
Join NCHE at the Blumenthal Performing Arts Center, 130 North Tryon Street, Charlotte, for this year’s student performance: Wednesday, December 16. The performance begins promptly at 10:30 a.m.–so we’ll need to be in our seats by 10. We cannot guarantee exact seat locations, but the majority of our hold is in the Orchestra and Grand Tier sections. The performance will last about 1 1/2 hours. During intermission, audience members will have the opportunity to ask performers and the ballet management team questions about anything to do with the performance: rehearsals, how old were the dancers when they first performed, theater management, costuming or any other intriguing thought.
All student performance Nutcracker tickets this year will be $17.95. Tickets will be available while supply lasts.
